Alberta M. (Frederick) Whitfield

Alberta M. Whitfield, 92, of Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on December 17, 2015 at The Village of Morrisons Cove. She was born on January 27, 1923 in Sproul, the daughter of Clarence and Nettie (Johnson) Frederick. On May 16, 1940 in Woodbury she married Roy Whitfield who preceded her in death on September 19, 1986. Alberta enjoyed bird watching, gardening, cooking, and was a member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter Jane, bother Walter (Bud) Frederick, and sister Della Bush. Surviving is son Clarence Whitfield (Myrtle) of Honey Brook, PA; daughter Marie Claar of Claysburg, PA; daughter Janet Snyder (Paul) of New Enterprise, PA; and son Herbert Whitfield (Peggy) of Martinsburg, PA. Also surviving is 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM.  At 2:00PM on Sunday, a service will take place with Pastor Robert Detwiler officiating.  All of the above will take place at the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury.  A committal service and interment will be at Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made in memory of Alberta to either Diehl’s Crossroad Church of the Brethren or Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by the S.
