Andrew L. Soccio

June 27, 1937    October 1, 2017

Andrew L. Soccio, 80, rural Williamsburg formerly of Browns Mills, NJ, passed away Sunday at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Matthew Louis and Mary (Lockawich) Soccio.  On August 18, 1973 he married Maria A. Holzinger in New Egypt, NJ.  She preceded him in death on September 15, 2017.

Surviving are three daughters: Laurie (John) Cavan, Mary Ann and Julie Soccio; a step-daughter, Patricia Brown; two step-sons: Thomas and James (Philene) Marabillas; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his aunt, Mary Ann Philipchuk with whom he was raised.

He was preceded in death by an uncle, Nick Philipchuk.

Andy was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Paterson, NJ and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1956-1960, where he served aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid.

He retired as a computer analyst/technical writer from Princeton University, NJ, and also had been employed at various universities where he taught technical courses.

Andy formerly served on the Pemberton Township Council, NJ and enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and woodworking.  He was extremely intelligent, a jack of all trades.  There was nothing he couldn't do once he set his mind to it.  Andy had a very clever sense of humor and kept us laughing until the end.  He was our go to guy when we needed any problem solved.  A tall man with a big heart and quick wit, he was loved and will be very missed by all that knew him.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11:30am funeral mass, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Matthew Reese, celebrant.  Inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
