Audrey Mae Hite

Audrey Mae Hite, 92, of Martinsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday morning, November 16, 2024 at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born in Fredericksburg, daughter of the late Paul Olbert and Helen H. (Appleman) Kensinger.  On March 1, 1952 she married John Kenneth “Jack” Hite in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on August 3, 2017 following 65 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan K. Matuska (Robert) of Bloomingdale, OH; a son, Jeffrey K. Hite (Susan) of Leesport; three grandchildren: Sarah Grabel, Stephen Hite and Jennifer Hite; four great-grandchildren: Kaydin, Jaxin, Kaylynn and Ashlynn; and two brothers: Ronald Kensinger (Lois) and Steven Kensinger both of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, John K. “Johnny” Hite II; three sisters: Doris Henry, Donna Smith and Pauline McConahy; and a brother, Donald Kensinger.

Audrey was a 1950 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.  She worked as a teller at Mid-State Bank in Martinsburg for many years

She was a longtime, faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where she taught both Bible and Sunday school.  Audrey was also a member of the Martinsburg BPW, where she served as an officer and the Girl Scouts of America, where she served on council.

Audrey loved spending time with family and traveling with her husband, Jack, especially visiting their many friends they made over the years, while living in various places.  She also enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and being a proud participant of the “Apple Butter Gang”.

Friends will be received from 10:30am until noon, Friday, November 22, 2024 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at noon, Pastor Traci Marriott officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
