Barbara B. (Brown) Resconsin

July 21, 1919 — August 3, 2012

Celebrating the life of an amazing woman. Barbara Brown Resconsin passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012. She was born on July 21, 1919, the daughter of Curtis and Ethel Brown in Colechester, CT. After high school she attended Bay Path College studying secretarial skills, earning numerous awards in shorthand; reaching 150 words a minute. Upon graduation, she went to work for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT. starting out as a general secretary and then became the secretary to the president of the company. She retired there after 25 years of service. She met and married Robert Resconsin on December 16, 1960. He passed away 5 years ago this month. They lived for many years on Diamond Lake in Glastonbury, CT. They moved to Everett, PA and spent the rest of their lives in their beloved Bunker Hill Rd home. She is survived by a niece Joan Hageman of Colechester, CT. She is also survived by two step-daughters, Sharon (Geoffrey) Clark of Everett and Karen Wheeler of Woodstock, VT. She is also survived by six step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren. Barbara was a woman of many talents. She loved to paint. She attended classes at the Foundry in Everett for many years and created many paintings of the things she loved; usually her loved animals, Duke, Duke II and Hawkey the cat, and a large landscape of Bunker Hill RD. She also did a painting of Christ at Gethsemane which was presented at the church Bobs parents attended. She and Bob spent a lot of vacations on the ski slopes of VT and NH. She loved to ride her motorcycle with Bob by her side on numerous country roads, always enjoying the scenery around her. Another of her passions was gardening. She often said she would much rather be outside in the garden than in the house cleaning. Barbara had a very special place that she enjoyed most of all, and that was Cape Cod. She went there every year with two friends. They always stayed at the same place and enjoyed all that the Cape had to offer. Especially the lobster dinners that they had. Her love of seafood is known far and wide. She was blessed with many good neighbors around her. The many Cottle families that were always around for good times and memories of the "old" days. Two very special friends of Barbara and Bobs were Skip and Effie Sheppheard. A friendship that started 35 years ago. In later years he was the one that helped with many difficult decisions regarding their care. And then there is Ruth and Tina. Two very devoted ladies that visited Barbara every week for many years. When Tina would ask how Barbara was, there was always the answer "fine and dandy". Barbara looked forward to their visits very much. A memorial service will be held at Weavers Funeral Home in Woodbury, PA at 2:00p.m. on August 19. 2012. A time of remembrance will be held one hour before. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Meals on Wheels. Placement of the ashes will be done privately by the family.
