Barry W. Thomas

Barry W. Thomas, 74, of Hopewell, passed away on February 9, 2025 at his home. He was born on January 24, 1951 in Kearney; son of the late Roland and Beatrice (Snyder) Thomas.

Barry was a graduate of Northern Bedford High School and was employed as a Skidder Operator for Steele’s Lumber Company. He was a member of the Six Mile Run Sons of the American Legion Post 556 and the Hopewell Senior Center. Barry was the current President of the Hopewell Cemetery Association. He took great pride in his lawn and enjoyed working and tinkering on anything and everything he could. Above all, Barry enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

In January of 1998 Barry and his son Ronnie opened Thomas Auto Care. Barry enjoyed the time he spent at the garage and retired in 2020. After retirement, he enjoyed his daily 3:00 coffee at the garage. His pride and joy was his blue, 1979 Chevrolet Camaro.

Barry was preceded in death by his previous wife, Barbara Jean (Savitts) Thomas; and a brother, Richard Thomas. Surviving is his wife, Saundra M. Thomas; son, Ronnie Thomas (Teena) of Hopewell; son, Shawn Thomas of Six Mile Run; son, Teddy Long (Julie Heuston) of Duncansville; daughter, Joanna Long (Joshua Bradley) of Wilmington, NC; son, Richard Dodson Jr. of Sherman Valley; beloved granddaughter, but in many ways considered a daughter, Keierra Long; grandchildren, Makayla, Samantha, Megan (Dan), Olivia, Evan, Kacey, Stella, Fiona, Falan, and Danielle; great-grandchild, Saylor; brother, Gary Thomas (Kathy, dec.); brother, Randy Thomas (Kathy); sister, Tamie Bollman (Wayne, dec.); and sister-in-law, Donna Thomas.

Friends will be received on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11:00AM until the small 12:30PM Memorial Service at the Hopewell United Methodist Church (672 Christian St. Hopewell, PA 16650); Pastor Marion Foor officiating.

The family would like the thank the Six Mile Run Area Volunteer Fire Company for the aid given to Barry. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Barry’s name may be given to the Nason Hospital Cath Lab or the Six Mile Run Area Volunteer Fire Company.
