Barry Wayne Hawlk, 77, of Woodbury, passed away on May 25, 2024 in Middleburg, Florida. He was born on November 30, 1946 in Sea Isle City, New Jersey; son of the late Rev. Harold and Dorothy (Wrigley) Hawlk. On February 18, 1967 in Paulsboro, New Jersey, he was united in marriage to Linda (Stock) Hawlk, who survives.
Barry served his county as a member of the United States Navy, holding the rank of First Class Petty Officer. He retired from the United States Coast Guard Reserves with the rank of Boatswain’s Mate. Barry held a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware. He retired from the Delaware Correctional Center as Security Superintendent. After retirement, Barry worked in Correctional Medical Administration.
Barry was a member of the Blackcreek Community Church in Middleburg, Florida. He was involved with Gideons International, the Faith United Methodist Church Men’s Group, delivered Meals on Wheels, and helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity. Barry enjoyed boating, working on and around his property in Woodbury, spending time with his family, and playing basketball.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Raymond, Jr. and David Michael Hawlk. Surviving is his wife, Linda Hawlk; son, Adam Hawlk (Dawn) of Dover, Delaware; daughter, Erin Lyons (John) of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; daughter, Cara Morris (Joshua) of Evans, Georgia; and grandchildren, Isabella, Noah, Evan, Jack, Brennan, Caiden, Ella, Andrew, Madyson, Brady, and Emma
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
