Benny R. Swope

Benny R. Swope, 87, of Roaring Spring, passed away on June 15, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1936 in Roaring Spring; son of the late Alvie and Myrtle (Dohrn) Swope. On December 27, 1954 in Roaring Spring, he was united in marriage to Betty L. (Helsel) Swope, who survives.

Benny graduated from the Altoona Bible Institute and attended the Heritage Baptist Church – Martinsburg. Benny worked as a welder/fabricator for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. for 43 years. He served 20 years as Vice President of Teamsters and held a Master Plumber Degree. He enjoyed farming and tractors.

Surviving is his wife, Betty L.; son, Stanley R. Swope of Arizona; son, Rodney L. Swope (Christine) of Roaring Spring; son, Mark S. Swope (Tania) of New Enterprise; brother, Dennis Swope; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; as well as one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 1:30PM to the 2:00PM Memorial Service at the Heritage Baptist Church (203 King James Ln. Martinsburg, PA 16662); Pastor Mark E. Biter and Mark Swope officiating. A meal will follow at the Woodbury Community Center. Private Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery.
