Betty Lou (Mellott) Eshelman, 86, of Hockessin, Delaware, formerly of Newark, Delaware, passed away on January 18, 2025 at Complete Care at Brackenville. She was born on October 17, 1938 in Roaring Spring; daughter of the late Albert and Alverna (Shaw) Mellott. Betty was a graduate of Replogle High School and Wesley College.
She worked as a Horse Trainer, Dress Shop Owner, and Registered Nurse. While nursing, Betty was employed at A. I. DuPont Hospital for Children and Christiana Hospital. She enjoyed time spent with her family, babysitting great-grandchildren, reading, watching movies, frog collecting, and Pittsburgh Steelers Football.
Betty was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Eshelman; sister, Juda Horne; brothers, Albert “Sam” Mellott and Paul Mellott; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Horne. Surviving is daughter, Tammy Bruchman (Joe) of Lancaster, PA; son, Tom Eshelman (Lori) of Union Dale, PA; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Cline Eshelman; grandchildren, Tiffany Xenakis (Angelo), Trevor Eshelman (Morgan), Joshua Eshelman (Michael Venn), Shanna Eshelman, Ashley Fox (Jason), Chad Westcott (Lesley), and Kyle Westcott; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Harper Eshelman, Aubrey and Brooke Westcott, and Madelyn, Abraham, Benjamin, and Jacob Fox; sister, Dianna Mellott (Mark) of Richardsville, VA; brother, Richard Mellott (Ghodrat “Gody” Kholghi) of Larkspur, CA; brother, Dennis Mellott (Jennifer) of New Castle, DE; brother, Jeffrey Mellott (Deb) of Loysburg, PA; brother, Joseph Mellott (Rebecca Ann) of Burlington, WV; sisters-in-law, Kathy Mellott and Mary Lynne Mellott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11:00AM until the 1:00PM Funeral Service at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren; Pastor Paul Snyder officiating. Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery.
