Betty M. (Frederick) Ake

February 21, 1949 — March 14, 2016

Betty M. Ake, 67, of New Enterprise, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2016 at Altoona UPMC. Born on February 21, 1949 in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Floyd F. Sr. and Rosie (Musselman) Frederick. On November 9, 1974, in Waterside, she married James C. Ake. Betty worked as a bank teller at the New Enterprise Bank and later as a cake decorator for both Dunkin Donuts and Donut Connection in Bedford. She was a member of the Waterside Church of the Brethren where she served as deaconess and was in the Church’s Women’s Group. Betty enjoyed cake baking for family and friends, sewing, gardening, and above all, spending time with her grandsons. She was preceded in death by her sister Judy Bowers. Survivors include her husband James; daughters, Heather R. Dibert (Michael) and Heidi L. Ake both of New Enterprise; sisters, Carol Jean Frederick of New Enterprise, Dorothy Frederick of Roaring Spring, and Linda Johnson of New Enterprise; and Bother Floyd F. Frederick Jr. (Linda) of New Enterprise. Also surviving are grandsons Isaac M. and Ezekiel J. Dibert. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM at the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury. A second visitation will take place on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the Waterside Church of the Brethren. At 11:00 a funeral service will occur with Pastor Mike Benner officiating. Interment at Dry Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Waterside Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home; Woodbury, PA.
