Betty L. Miller, 99, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Rome, NY, passed away Wednesday morning, at the home.

She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Meda (Colyer) Thomas.  On September 28, 1947 she married John R. Miller in Altoona and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.

Surviving are 2 sons: John R. Jr. (Mary), of Cedar Falls, IA, and Robert T. (Nancy) of Pine Bush, NY; 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Benjamin, Kelly Weinacht (Aaron), and Amy Howe (Andrew); and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Madalene Gorsuch; and 5 brothers: Gerald, Dayne, Donald, Richard, and Earl.

Betty was a longtime active, member of the Utica-Holly Chapter 178 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Verde Temple #24 Daughters of the Nile, Rome, NY.  She was also a member of First Methodist Church in Rome, NY for many years, until moving to Martinsburg in June 1988, when she became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring.

Friends will be received from 6-8pm, Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, December 27, 2017, Pastor Kevin K. Locker officiating.  Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children,  c/o Jaffa Shrine Center, PO Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603.
