Beulah M. Lyons

July 5, 1922 — November 18, 2013

Beulah M. Lyons, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and formerly of Wheeler, Michigan passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Holy Spirit Hospital due to complications from pneumonia.  Committal service and interment beside her parents in Midland Memorial Gardens, Midland, Michigan on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM, Rev. Eric Stanton officiating.  Memorial service at Messiah Village Chapel, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM, Rev. Ronald Slabaugh officiating.





Beulah was born in Midland county, Michigan on July 5, 1922, the daughter of Garry G. Lyons and Mabel A. (Downey) Lyons.  Raised on the Garry Lyons farm on Seven Mile Road, Wheeler, Michigan, she completed 8th grade followed by two winter terms at Ontario Bible School, ft. Erie, Ontario.  A devout reader of God’s Word, Beulah at age 17 dedicated herself to accomplishing the Lord’s will and served often as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher throughout the next 40 years of her life.  Moving to Pennsylvania in 1950, she served 12 of those years with life-long friend Elizabeth Kanode in Brethren In Christ Home Mission work under Pastor Joel Carlson and Matron Faithe (Brehm) Carlson at the Messiah Lighthouse Chapel on Bailey Street, Harrisburg.  When the Harrisburg mission closed in 1962, Beulah took a position at Pomeroy’s Department Store until being hired as an office assistant for Dr. Gordon Arnold.  In 1984, Dr. and Mrs. Arnold transitioned her to serve as the family Nanny, a role she never relinquished even after her retirement in 2001.





Beulah was preceded in death by parents Garry and Mabel, sisters Alice L. Cobb and Ella Ruth Huntoon (Ruth) and nephew Eldon L. Huntoon.  She is survived by brother Vernon A. Lyons, 93, of Venice, Florida; sister Rozella F. Lyons, 89, of Owosso, Michigan; brother Clare J. Lyons, 87, of Owosso, Michigan; sister Elva F. Bulgrien, 83, of Sandusky, Michigan, husband Kenneth; sister Loa L. Buckwalter, 76, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 8 nieces; 9 nephews; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.





In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brethren In Christ World Missions (BICWM), 431 Grantham Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
