C. Eric Closson

C. Eric Closson, 72, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief battle with liver cancer.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late J. Merle and Ella Marie (Herncane) Closson and biological mother, Esther Closson. On February 8, 1974, he married Beth A. Johnson at First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2021, following 47 years of marriage.

Eric is survived by a daughter, Emily M. Claycomb (Shawn) of Roaring Spring; a son, Shawn E. Closson (Tekyra) of Martinsburg; three grandchildren: Brayden Claycomb, Ellayna Closson, and Adisen Closson; a sister with whom he was raised with and loved, Lisa Mock (Mike) of Roaring Spring; four sisters with whom he recently got to know: Donna Closson of Hollidaysburg, Dana Rosser of Roaring Spring, Danette Locke (Jeffrey) of Huntingdon, and Dawn Walk (James) of Altoona; and a special friend, Sharon Bigler of Salemville.

He was a 1972 graduate of Central High School and then attended auto mechanic school at Vale Tech, Blairsville. Eric went on to work as a bleach plant operator at Appleton Paper Products, Roaring Spring, with over 40 years of service.

Eric loved spending time with his family, going on family beach trips, and was especially proud of all his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his youngest granddaughter, Adi, play volleyball, working in his garage and workshop, going to races at Bedford Speedway, and collecting model trains.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, June 23, 2025, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, and from 10 until 11 am Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the funeral home where a funeral service will begin at 11 am, Pastor David Crumrine officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc.
