Carol Dawn Detwiler

Carol Dawn Detwiler, 86, of New Enterprise, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Homewood Martinsburg Health Care Center, where she had been due to a cancer diagnosis. Carol Dawn loved her family and was a beloved friend to many, including high school classmates, nursing school friends, neighbors, and her church family.  Now in her permanent home, she is in perfect health and feels only joy and happiness, praising her Lord.

Carol Dawn was born in Waterside, PA on August 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Maurice and Hannah (Baker) Clouse. On September 6, 1958, Carol Dawn married her high school sweetheart, Robert W. Detwiler (Deceased).  Carol Dawn was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce C. Newcomb and nephew, Darwin Newcomb.

Surviving are her children, Brian R. Detwiler and wife Daisy (Saca) Detwiler of Lancaster, PA; Dawn M. Housel of Everett, PA, and Todd A. Detwiler. She has four grandchildren, Ashley (Housel) Johnson and husband Matthew Johnson of Rockville, MD; Ian Housel of Pittsburgh, PA; Stephanie Detwiler of Lancaster, PA and Christopher Detwiler of New York, NY and a great- granddaughter, Elena Johnson, Rockville, MD.

Also surviving are her nephew, Douglas Newcomb and niece, Melissa Isbell.

Carol Dawn graduated from Replogle High School in 1954 and earned a degree in Nursing from   Presbyterian School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA in 1957.

Carol Dawn has worked as a nurse in both the hospital setting and community setting, specializing in obstetrics.  Carol Dawn was an active member of the Claysburg Bible Church, Imler PA.

A private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family with a public Celebration of Life scheduled for both Carol Dawn and Robert Detwiler on March 24, 2023, at 5:00pm at the Claysburg Bible Church (11751 William Penn Rd., Imler, PA 16655).

Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Carol Dawn Detwiler to Claysburg Bible Church.
