Carole Louise Markel

Carole L. (Replogle) Markel, 87, Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, January 16, 2024, at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Paul K. and Margaret L. (Over) Replogle. She married Robert H. Markel, Jr., whom preceded her in death on April 2, 1971.

Surviving are two children: Daniel R. Markel of Lancaster and Nicole Baker Markel of Roaring Spring; three grandchildren: Harlie (Franklin) Snowberger (Tyler), Rylie Franklin, and Colton Franklin; and one great-grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly L. “Kim” Markel, two infant sons: Paul and David Markel, and five sisters: infant, Betty, E. Lorraine Smith, Annette Greaser, Gladys Mock and Patricia Reighard; and a brother, George Replogle.

Carole was a 1954 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. She loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed playing bingo.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Carole may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
