Carrie M. Mauk, 94, of Roaring Spring, formerly of New Enterprise, passed away on July 25, 2019 at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born on December 24, 1924 in Queen, daughter of the late Ross Adam and Artie Mae (Langham) Claycomb. On September 21, 1946, in Cumberland, she was united in marriage to George “Dick” Melvin Mauk. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1986. Carrie worked as a riveter at the Altoona railroad shops during WWII; she was also a waitress at the Coach Room in Bedford. Carrie loved her rose bushes. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her family and grandchildren at their camp in Potter County. Carrie was a member of the St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg and the Southern Cove Fire Company Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband George; brothers Sherley and David Claycomb; sister Betty Lingenfelter; and grandson Matthew Baker. Surviving are son Christopher G. Mauk of Claysburg; daughter Barb A. Baker (husband Dale L.) of Bedford; daughter Beverly M. Smith (husband Richard E.) of New Enterprise; as well as 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 4:00-8:00PM at the Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury. A second visitation will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 3:00 until the 4:00PM Funeral Service at St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg. Pastor David Meckley will be officiating. Interment will be in Holsinger Cemetery. If so desired, Memorial Contributions in Carrie’s name can be made to the Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company.
