Catharine “Emmie” Detwiler, 93, of Martinsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday morning, May 7, 2025 at her daughter’s home in rural Roaring Spring.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late D. Elwood and Mary E. (Kifer) Brantner.  On April 15, 1950 she married Marion E. “Amos” Detwiler in Beavertown, rural Martinsburg.  He preceded her in death on November 21, 1995.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra F. Dilling (Ralph) of rural Roaring Spring; two grandsons: Shawn M. Dilling and Kelly J. Dilling (Jessica); two great-grandsons: Tyler Dilling (Regan) and Tanner Dilling (Nicole); two great-great-grandsons: Mathias and August; six sisters: Diana Crouch, Carol Allen, Bonnie Hammond, Arlene Luke, Nancy Beeler and Rebecca Stiffler; and two brothers: Clyde “Butch” Brantner and Robert Dale Brantner.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Ann Detwiler; a son, Ronald E. “Sam” Detwiler; five sisters: Jane Boose, Fay Gorsuch, Edna Brantner, Dorothy Hileman and Rose Lear; and five brothers: Thomas, Donald, Daniel “Pete”, James “Irvin” and John Brantner.

Emmie went to school in Williamsburg and was a longtime member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg and was currently attending the Royer United Methodist Church in rural Williamsburg.

Over the years she worked at the Martinsburg Shoe Factory, Martinsburg Sewing Factory and for the longest period of time as a nurse’s aide at the Morrisons Cove Home in Martinsburg.

Emmie loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed square dancing, camping, playing pinochle and completing word search puzzles.

Friends will be received from 10:30am until noon, Monday, May 12, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at noon, Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Shellytown.

Contributions in memory of Emmie may be given to Cove Cause for Cancer, 343 Ponderosa Lane, Roaring Spring, 16673.
