Catherine A. “Katie” Carrol, 99, of rural Williamsburg, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, June 3, 2022 at her home.  She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Kuzma and Barbara (Kyzmick) Rupeka.  On May 20, 1960 she married John Carrol Jr. in Vintondale.  He preceded her in death on October 18, 2007 following 47 years of marriage.

Surviving are a son, John M. Carrol (Zina) of rural Williamsburg; a grand-daughter, Alexandra Carrol at home; and her beloved pet, Oreo.

She was the last of seven children, being preceded in death by five brothers: Nicholas, Michael, Frank, John and Joseph; and a sister, Olga Steele.

Katie was a 1941 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.  She retired as a personnel clerk from the Pennsylvania Railroad, Samuel Rae Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, after 30 years of service.

She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Ganister and was a member of the local ladies red hat society.

Katie loved spending time with her family, oil painting and traveling.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public service.  A private graveside funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church Cemetery, Ganister, Father George Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Katie’s memory can be given to Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 427 First Street, Conemaugh, Johnstown, PA 15909.
