Charles E. Royer

Charles Edwin Royer, 93, resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning at Homewood.
He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Charles R. and Bertha (Fay) Royer. He married Peggy M. Johnston on November 13, 1948 in Hollidaysburg. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2011.
Surviving are a daughter, Deka Abernethy; a son, Roger L. (Judy) all of Williamsburg; 3 grandchildren: Angela Lower, Roger Jr. and Charles Eric Abernethy; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen F. Isenberg; 2 brothers: Richard D. and J. Ralph; and a son-in-law, Robert J. Abernethy.
Charles was a 1940 graduate of Williamsburg High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II serving from 1944-1946, attaining the rank of Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class.
Charles retired from Penelec, Williamsburg generating station with over 30 years of service.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.
Charles enjoyed woodworking, playing bingo, building things and especially loved gardening.
Friends will be received from 10am until the 11 am funeral service, Monday, November 9, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Williamsburg Lutheran Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to his church.
