Chris David Bilger, 61, of rural Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Huntingdon, son of John O. and Elaine B. (Oswald) Bilger.

Surviving are his parents of rural Martinsburg; three brothers: Kevin, Jack and Justin Bilger; a sister, Grace “Shandi” Martin (Stephen); and six nephews and three nieces.

Chris was preceded in death in 1971 by a baby brother.

He was a 1979 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg, where he was a member the FFA.  Chris was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Church in rural Martinsburg.

Chris began his agricultural career breeding cattle for Jerry Bechtel.  He later owned and operated Bilger’s Breeding Service that served many farms in Blair and Bedford Counties for close to 30 years.  After retiring from breeding, Chris drove a delivery truck for Sheetz for 6 years.

He loved watching western movies and also breeding fish and taking care of his many aquariums.

Friends will be received from 10 until 11am, Saturday, July 1, 2023 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a celebration of life service will begin at 11am at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Chris may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
