Clara Jean (Claar) Reighard

Clara Jean (Claar) Reighard, 86, of Woodbury, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Homewood - Martinsburg. She was born on January 21, 1940 in Roaring Spring; daughter of the late C. Bruce and S. Dorothy (Shriner) Claar. On October 11, 1959 at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, she was united in marriage to Charon Ray Reighard.

Jean was a Class of 1958 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School - Bean Hill. She dedicated her life to her home and family, finding her greatest fulfillment in caring for those she loved. Jean was involved with numerous organizations: Red Hat Society, Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, Northern Bedford Clothing Bank, and The Village at Morrison’s Cove Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and acted as the community seamstress. Jean was an active member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren where she was an organist, deaconess, and Sunday School Teacher.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; great-grandson, Cameron; and sister, Betty Lou Burke. Surviving are son, William (Katrina Negley) of Martinsburg; daughter, Karen Claire (Duane) of Roaring Spring; son, Robert (Lisa) of Roaring Spring; son, Brian (Lisa) of Williamsburg; son, Richard (Kim) of Clearville; grandchildren: Ryan (Joanne), Dustin (Shanalyn), Katlyn (Jake), Alexis (Brandon), Noah (Claire), Morgan (Jay); ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Allen Claar (Wanda).

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 9:30AM until the 12:00PM NOON funeral service at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren; Pastor David Scott officiating. Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Jean’s name, may be made to Cove Cause for Cancer.
