Curtiss F. “Chip” Bumberger, 60, of Lakemont, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, April 4, 2025 at his home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank C. and Agnes M. (Allsopp) Bumberger.  On March 13, 2004 he married Laurie L. Rhodes at the Geeseytown Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Laurie of 21 years; four children: Mandy L. Cunningham (Rob) of Elkland, Curtis F. Bumberger II of Duncansville, Haley L. Bumberger of Woodbury and Shena Claar of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren: Jordan Bumberger, Liberty Bumberger, Julie Cunningham and Jack Cunningham; a sister, Melissa A. Lingenfelter (Barry) of Pavia Township; and close friends: Nancy Santore and Tony Rispoli (Christina).

He was a graduate of Altoona High School and also attended Penn State University and the Altoona Vocational & Technical School.

Chip began his career of installing and engraving cemetery monuments with W.H. Kelly & Sons in Altoona. In 2008 he ventured on his own and started Bumberger’s Monuments and for the past 17 years Chip has established himself as a true master monumental mason.

He loved spending time with his family, especially their trips to Pigeon Forge, TN for antique car shows and days on the lake at Raystown.  Chip also enjoyed going to auctions, antiquing, restoring antique peddle cars, collecting Buddy L Trucks and his pet Weimaraner dogs.

Friends will be received from 4-7pm, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona, where a funeral service will begin at 7pm, Pastor Eli Hess officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

Arrangements are being provided by both: John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg and The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona.

Contributions in memory of Chip may be given to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
