Cynthia A. Helsel

Cynthia A. Helsel, 72, of Williamsburg, passed away Sunday morning, January 26, 2025 at her home, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward E. “Art” and Alice Jean (Irvin) Barroner. Cynthia was formerly married to the late James Helsel.
Surviving are a daughter, Terra J. Wright of Williamsburg; a granddaughter, Addison J. Johnson at home; a brother, Philip C. Barroner (Diana) of Williamsburg; her stepmother, Geraldine Barroner of Williamsburg; an aunt, Betty Dawson (Tom) of Fort Wayne, IN; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Cynthia attended school in Williamsburg and worked for a few years with the Fonda Group in Williamsburg and Maryland. She later retired as a short line operator and pre-fit stitcher from the Cove Shoe Factory in Martinsburg, with over 30 years of service.
She attended Grace Pointe Community Church the former Williamsburg Church of God.
Cynthia loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Addison, who she loved cooking for. She also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State, Williamsburg Blue Pirates, Christmas movies and Hallmark Channel movies.
Inurnment will be held at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
Contributions in memory of Cynthia may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
