Dale Hobart Allison, 96, rural Martinsburg, passed away early Friday morning at UPMC, Altoona following an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Melvin H. and Ida (Loudon) Allison.  On March 22, 1947 he married Mary Jane Burket in Martinsburg by The Rev. Paul J. Keller.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 69 years and their pet bichon dog, Baxter; 2 brothers: Albert L. of Bellwood and Carl E. (Beverly) of Hollidaysburg; special niece, Susan Aller of Tampa Bay, FL; special care-givers, Jeff and Sharon Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Catherine Stiffler and Ida Mae Smith; and 3 brothers: Paul, Calvin and Ralph.

Dale attended high school in Altoona and Tyrone and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving from 1942 until 1945 attaining the rank of Technician 5th grade and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where he was church property chairman.   He also served as the church sexton for 11 years and as church property chairman.

Dale retired from Ward Trucking after 27 years of service and he also enjoyed watching Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.  A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 115, E. Penn St., Martinsburg, PA  16662.
