Dale Emmert Snyder

July 21, 1942 — August 19, 2020

Dale Emmert Snyder, 78, of New Enterprise, passed away on August 19, 2020 at UPMC Altoona. He was born on July 21, 1942 in Roaring Spring; son of the late Jacob and Jennie (Stone) Snyder. On August 4, 1963 in Woodbury, he was united in marriage to Sandra Lee (Guyer) Snyder; she preceded him in death on January 30, 2018. Dale was employed by PennDOT as a Bridge Foreman, but his passion was the family farm. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, Farmer’s Union, AFS, and the Fresh Air Fund. Heavily involved with the Farmer’s Union; Dale attended conferences, lobbied, served on multiple boards and as Local Chapter President, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Surviving are son Matthew D. Snyder (Christine) of New Enterprise; grandchildren Zane G. Snyder (Makenzie) and Sydney G. Snyder; great-grandson Jamison Emmert Snyder; as well as brothers Paul, Samuel, and Rodney Snyder. Also surviving are four individuals he considered his own children. Anthony Hernandez, who from NY, NY came to them every summer as a child as part of the Fresh Air Fund program, and three previous foreign exchange students Julia (Aubert) Shiffler formerly of Peru; Andre Wolff of Germany; and Danielle (Blackwell) Whyte of Australia. A small viewing will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 2:00-4:00PM. At 4:00PM, a Funeral Service will take place with Pastor David Ulm officiating. All of the above will be held at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in Holsinger Cemetery with a Graveside Service beginning at 11:00AM on Monday, August 24, 2020. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Dale’s name can be made to the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home, LLC (weaversfh.com); Woodbury.
