Dallas Earl Eckert, 88, of Martinsburg, formerly of Tyrone, passed away on April 26, 2025 at the Village at Morrisons Cove. He was born on April 28, 1936 in Altoona, son of the late Earl Kenneth and Thelma Ruth (Hildebrand) Eckert. On January 3, 1961 in Altoona; he married Loreda L. Longenecker, who survives.
Dallas was a Class of 1954 graduate of Tyrone High School. He served his county as a member of the United States Air Force, honorably discharged on December 2, 1957. Dallas retired from PPG after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Tyrone Area Historical Society, Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Life Member of Tyrone Elks Lodge No. 212, Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 281 - Altoona, Masonic Lodge No. 539 - Woodbury, Tyrone Sportsmens Club, and the NRA. Dallas was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church – Tyrone and faithfully attended Tyrone Alliance Church. Once moving to Martinsburg, he and Lori began attending the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Dallas was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing “The Little J”. He was a major supporter of Tyrone Football and Wrestling.
Surviving is his wife, Loreda (Lori) Eckert; niece, Kendra Napolitan; great nephew, Joshua Longenecker and his children Silas, Ellie, and Ezra; and two very special people, Dave and Kyle Moore.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 10:00AM until the 12:00PM Funeral Service at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren; Pastors Janet Sell and David Scott officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park.
