Darrell L. Clapper
February 17, 1966 – July 3, 2025
Darrell L. Clapper, 59, of rural Martinsburg, died unexpectedly Thursday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
He was born in Altoona the son of Clair and Janice (Helsel) Clapper. In 1987 he married Diane E. Dilling.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife; six children Deidre (Zach) Bumbarger, David (Adelaide), Daniel, Devin (Katie), Dale and Darcy (Wyatt) Holsinger; six grandchildren Addelyn, Rylan, Evelyn, Caralyn, Nolan Bumbarger and Torin Clapper; his parents; four sisters Sharon (Tom) Eastep, Cindi Claar, Joy (Tom) Lindey and Jody (Shawn) McClain; numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell was a 1984 graduate of Central High School and a 1987 graduate of Penn State University. He earned a Master of Divinity from Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake, IN.
He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 17 years; was a licensed insurance salesman the past ten years; worked part-time in the shipping department at FedEx, Duncansville; and provided pulpit supply for various Grace Brethren and Church of the Brethren congregations throughout Blair and Bedford counties.
Darrell greatly enjoyed his extensive travels through the U.S. with his children; anything involving agriculture or model trains; gardening and above all joking with his grandchildren.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 1 to 4 pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church with a funeral service to follow at 4pm. Arrangements are by the John K. Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
