David Charles Slusser

David Charles Slusser, 78, residing near State College, PA and formerly of Meadville, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday morning, October 29, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Littlestown, Adams County, Pennsylvania, son of the late, Charles William “Jack” Slusser and Evelyn Jane (Gitt) Slusser. He married Annie Kaye (Beach) Slusser on September 5, 1965. David and Kaye had two children. Lee is a city planner and project manager for PennTerra Engineering in State College, and Dana is a special education teacher for the Baltimore County School District. He had four grandchildren, Jayla Kaye Foot and Kaselyn Marie Foot of Baltimore, and Andrea Margaret Slusser and Jonathan Elliot Slusser of Altoona; and a sister, Nancy Jane Snyder of Pittsburgh.
David Slusser graduated from Littlestown High School in 1961 and the Pennsylvania State University in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science. In 1991, he was named the Distinguished Alumni of the Department of Dairy Science. From 1965 through 1969, David was a Fieldman for the Pennsylvania Holstein Association and a cooperative extension agent in Pennsylvania and Ohio. From 1969 through 1993, he and Kaye owned and operated the Orange Bucket Farm near Meadville, PA, where his children were born and raised. He then led Pennsylvania DHIA in State College, PA, as its General Manager for eight years. He traveled and worked as an overseas agricultural educator in 57 countries, most notably Armenia and Iraq. He educated farmers about cooperatives, farm finances, cow feed, and herd improvements. He always said that wanted to improve the world, one cow at a time. Finally, he was an active volunteer for the John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry at the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren in Fredericksburg, PA, becoming an expert wheelchair mechanic.
David and Kaye Slusser were members of the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren in Fredericksburg, PA. There will be no funeral or visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry, 137 Church Hill Lane, Martinsburg, PA 16662. But the best deed you can do in Dave’s memory is to do a good deed for someone anonymously. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
