David Ulm

January 31, 1957 — July 7, 2024

Woodbury

David Ulm gained entrance to his heavenly reward on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

David was born on January 31, 1957 to the late James and Glenna (Holl) Ulm in Massillon, Ohio. He graduated from Jackson Township School District in 1975 and from the University of Akron in 1980. After graduation, David spent 20 years as an accountant.

In 1997, David felt called by the Lord to enter full-time ministry. David’s first congregation was the Mt. Zion Road Church of the Brethren in Lebanon. He saw much physical and spiritual growth there in his 17 years. Most recently, David pastored at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, beginning on April 15, 2015. David was keenly aware of his responsibility of caring for the flock the Lord led him to and especially to be true and faithful in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

David came from a singing family. He was active with select choir in high school, various church choirs (his mother and wife were the directors), a mixed quartet called “New Birth,” and 2 men’s quartets, “Words of Truth” and “The Ministers Quartet.” David was quite gifted in creating alternate lyrics for various songs and commercial jingles.

David enjoyed running, but most recently could be found biking around Morrison Cove. College Football (THE OSU) could be heard in the house on the weekends in the fall. David also had a joy of working with rose bushes and gladiolas.

David is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Lori; sons, Adam (Katie) of Harrisburg, Aaron (Angela) of Fredericksburg, and Nathan (Elizabeth) of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Jameson, Garrett, Frankie, Magnolia, and Bergen.

Friends will be received on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00PM and Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM Celebration of Life Service at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren; Pastor David Banaszak officiating. A Memorial Service will be held in Ohio at the family’s convenience.
