David W. Guyer, 63, of Potter Creek Rd., New Enterprise, passed away at his home while battling his fight with cancer at 4:30PM on May 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 14, 1953 in Roaring Spring, the son of the late Bernard Guyer and Ruth (Allison) Guyer. On November 20, 1971 he was united with his wife Connie (Clark) Guyer at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife Connie; three children, Timothy Guyer (Victoria); Dawn Detwiler (Bryan); and Tammy Detwiler (Thomas); five grandchildren, Tanner Guyer; Shannon and Jacob Detwiler; and Jamie and David Detwiler; mother, Ruth (Allison) Guyer; and sister Nancy Wallace. David was a 1971 graduate of NBC High School. He worked for Billy Helsel on the farm for many years. David worked for PennDot in Bedford County as a truck driver and equipment operator until later retiring as a Foreman. He enjoyed transporting his Mennonite neighbors and friends, hunting, target shooting, attending grandchildren’s’ ball games, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Viewing will be held at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 - 8:00PM on Friday, May 26th and 10:00 -11:00AM on Saturday, May 27th. At 11:00AM, Saturday a Funeral Service will be held with Pastor Paul Snyder officiating. A church meal will be served at Holsinger Church of the Brethren. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Holsinger Church of the Brethren. The family would like to thank the Southern Cove Hospice especially Amber and Denise for their love, care, and going above and beyond to care for David.
