Debbie Sue Metzker, lovingly known as Deba, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by family as her husband Jay prayed over her. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Jay Metzker; her brothers: John Evans (Ginny), Larry Evans (Linda), David Evans; her daughter Kristin Russell (Walter) and their ten children: Benjamin (Meredith), Carrie Triambuck(Robert), Adam (Melissa), Joshua, Levi (Je-Ann), Jared (Phebe), Jonathan (Nica), Luke (Catherine), Mark, and Matthew; her son Wesley Metzker (Amanda) and his sons Hunter (Abby) and Keller; and thirteen great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Ezra and James Russell; Charlotte, Iraina and Marigold Triambuck; Hazel, Stella, Waylon and Beau Russell; Micah Russell, and 3 preborn blessings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Keller and Violet and her sister Janet Mains.
Deba spent many years as a dedicated farm wife, raising her family with love and resilience. She pursued her passion for helping others by earning her degree from Mount Aloysius College and worked as an Occupational Therapist for Health South, where she made a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike. She was a devoted member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where she served diligently as a Deaconess and helped with the Sisters in Faith group. Deba also worked for the John's Way Medical Equipment Ministry.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 5-8 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 funeral service at the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Brian McCall officiating. Private interment at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry.
