Delphine C. (Baker) Gates

Delphine C. Gates, 94, of Martinsburg, formerly of New Enterprise, passed away on October 6, 2017 at the Village at Morrisons Cove. Born on August 24, 1923 in New Enterprise, the daughter of the late Sherman and Deliliah (Koontz) Baker. On September 5, 1939 she married John H. Gates who preceded her in death on May 17, 2011. Delphine enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was an active member in both the Southern Cove Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Koontz Church of the Brethren. Surviving is daughters Darlene Guyer (Ted) of Martinsburg and Betty Bechtel (Robert) of New Enterprise; sons Francis Gates (Carolyn) of Imler, Lon Gates (Kathy) of New Enterprise, and Steve Gates (Kim) of Roaring Spring; As well as 20 grandchildren, 35+ great-grandchildren, and 6+ great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9th from 6:00PM-8:00PM and Tuesday, October 10th from 10:00AM-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, Tuesday a funeral service will take place with pastors Mike Benner and Allen Baker officiating. All of the above will be held at the Koontz Church of the Brethren.
