Donald Allan Barker, 77, of Duncansville, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 6, 2024 at his home, following a lengthy battle with PTSD, which was always more difficult during the 4th of July holiday.

He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Robert C. and Dorothy M. (Taylor) Barker.  On April 6, 1968 he married Celestia E. Reish in Pine Grove Mills, Centre County.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Celestia of 55 years; two daughters: Dawn R. Barker and Bobbie Jean Baker both at home; two grandchildren: Allana E. Baker and Scott A. Baker Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Willow J. Baker; and close friends: Barbara and Chuckie McMillen and Joan Baronner.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice V. Wyland.

Don was a 1965 graduate of Gateway High School, Monroeville. He was a USMC combat veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1966 until 1969.  Don was the recipient of the Purple Heart and numerous other service medals.

He began his career as a Deputy Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, where he later worked as a Conservation Officer and Dispatcher, with over 25 years of service.  Don also served undercover for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, while employed with the Game Commission.

Don was a life-member of the Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and the Duncanville VFW Post 8724.

He loved the outdoors, all wildlife and was an avid sportsman.  Don also enjoyed camping, ice fishing and working on his cars and race car.

At Don’s request there will be no public services.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

Contributions in memory of Don may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
