Donald A. Brown, 79, Martinsburg, passed away Sunday evening at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Andrew R. and Lottie M. (Pressel) Brown. On February 6, 1960 he married Pearl A. "Polly" Claire at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Roaring Spring.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years; 2 sons: Adam A. (Dodie) of Gettysburg and Michael A. (Carrie) of rural Martinsburg; a grandson, Matthew in Fort Carson, CO; 2 granddaughters: Rebekah and Michaela of rural Martinsburg; a sister, Sally A. Riley in Kansas.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: G. Rex, David L. and Harold R. Brown.
Donald was a 1955 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He attended the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and retired as a machine operator from Small Tube Products, Duncansville with 30 years of service.
Donald was a lifetime member of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company Station #80 and a member of the B.C.O. Think Tank.
He loved spending time with his family and quiet days working on his family’s farm. Don also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and collecting model Oliver Tractors.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, September 2, 2106 at the church, Pastor Robert A. Russell officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Martinsburg Vol. Fire Company, 205 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or the Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service, 801 Scotch Valley Rd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
