Donald L. Russell

Donald L. Russell, 90, of Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on December 8, 2017 at The Village at Morrisons Cove. Born on June 7, 1927 in Woodbury, the son of the late Henry and Adah (Hartman) Russell. On November 1, 1950 in Woodbury, he married Shirley V. Helsel who preceded him in death on February 27, 2017. Donald was a member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and did Custom Farming and Mechanic work for E.F. Smith Trucking Company for many years. He enjoyed flying and airplanes, steam engines and trains, bluegrass, Sunday drives, and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Surviving is son Greg Russell (Trish) of Ore Hill; son Brian Russell (Dawn) of Hedgesville, WV; daughter Jeanne Detwiler of Martinsburg; brothers Robert Russell and Lloyd Russell; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Shirley as well as two sisters and five brothers. Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 13th from 4:00PM-8:00PM and Thursday, December 14th from 10:00AM-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, Thursday a Funeral Service will take place. All of the above will be held at Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery.
