Donald L. Nixon, 91, of rural Roaring Spring, passed away Friday morning, February 14, 2025 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Martinsburg, son of the late Robert B. and F. Marie (Paul) Nixon.  On November 10, 1967 he married Carol L. Claycomb.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Carol of 57 years; a grandson, Ryan M. Nixon of Bedford; two great-grandsons: Layne and Dylan Nixon; a sister, Doris Kennedy of New Paris; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Nixon of rural Roaring Spring; and many step-grand and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin B. Nixon; and a sister, Patricia Long.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict from 1953 until 1955, attaining the rank of Corporal.  He was a longtime member of Smithfield Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.

He was employed for years at the A&P warehouse in Altoona and later worked at Appleton Paper, Inc. in Roaring Spring until his retirement.

Don loved spending time with his family and doing yard work.  He also enjoyed watching sports.

Friends will be received from 5-7pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service with military honors will begin at 7pm.  Private interment will be held at Salem Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.

Contributions in memory of Don may be given to Friendship Fire Company, 808 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
