Donald G. Ormsby, 84, Martinsburg, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2011 at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Tyrone, where he resided the majority of his younger years, a son of the late Harry and Pearl (Miller) Ormsby.

Donald was a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving on the U.S.S. LSMR #514 Atlantic.

Following his service in the navy, he live in Pittsburgh, where in 1949 he met and married his future wife, Dolores Hrubes.  Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Martinsburg and had four children.

Donald worked at Ritchey’s Dairy before being hired at Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring, where he retired from, with over 30 years of service.

He worked hard his whole life, but when he relaxed, he loved watching western and war movies, the Pirates and the Steelers. He enjoyed reading western novels and loved traveling, especially visiting his brothers and sisters every Sunday. He hunted and enjoyed long walks on his mountain ground with his dog. Don and his wife had a large garden and were always giving away free fruit and vegetables. He also loved going out to eat and would always let you know if he had a good meal.

The couple eventually sold their small farm on Lock Mountain and bought a cottage at the Morrisons Cove Home, where Donald resided with his wife until his passing.

Surviving are their four children: Donald G. Jr. of Roaring Spring, Deborah K. Kaiser of Huber Heights, OH, Dirk R. of Altoona and Duane E. of Bozeman, MT; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A private burial for Don and Dolores will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Arrangements were by John C. Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
