Donna M. Smith, 82, Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday morning at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
She was born in Fredericksburg, rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late Paul O. and Helen H. (Appleman) Kensinger. On September 27, 1952 she married Dean A. Smith in Winchester, VA and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2006.
Surviving are 2 sons: Dwayne A. (Diddy) and Dwight A. (Lori) both of Martinsburg; 2 grandchildren: Danielle A. Nash (Tyler) and Devin A. Smith (Jaelyn Ritchey); 3 step-grandchildren: Wade Brumbaugh (Alison), Jason Mock (Cheryl) and Davey Steele (Beth); 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Hite (Jack) of Martinsburg; and 2 brothers: Ronnie (Lois) and Steve both of Martinsburg.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Lou on October 1, 1953; a great-grandson, Leevi Steele on February 6, 2013; 2 sisters: Pauline McConahy and Doris Henry; and a brother, Donald.
Donna was a 1952 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and attended Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.
She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Doc Hoover’s Tractors and Leidy’s Home Furnishings both in Martinsburg. Donna was a member of the Martinsburg Business and Professional Women where she held various offices and was a former member of Iron Master’s Country Club, rural Roaring Spring.
Donna was an avid bell collector and also loved reading and watching sports.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg and from 10am until the 11am funeral service, Friday, April 7, 2017 at the funeral home, Pastor David F. Banaszak and Chaplain Linda S. Banaszak officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Martinsburg Community Library.
