Dorcas L. Ickes, 94, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Williamsburg, passed peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 11, 2018 at the home.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late, Raymond B. and Leila M. (Shultz) Shelly.  On March 11, 1939, she married Harry D. Ickes in Washington County, MD and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1968.

Surviving are three daughters: Sarah J. Hall of Norman, OK, Sonya S. Fleming (husband, Terry) of East Falmouth, MA and Shelly M. Lollar (husband, Terry) of Jeannette; nine grandchildren: Alan Hall, Kelly Jo Hall, Staci Lillo, Kristopher Biddle, Nathan Fleming, Rachel Van Allen, Jeffrey Mingle, Jennifer Breon and Kenny Bartlett; nine great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Lugene Shelly.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria L. Biddle, who passed away January 27, 2018; and two brothers: Galen Shelly and Raymond B. Shelly Jr.

Dorcas was a lifelong member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg, where she served as deaconess for the last 60 years.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and numerous local card clubs.

She retired from JCPenney, Altoona, working as a sales associate in the jewelry department with over 20 years of service.

Dorcas loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg, Pastor Paul Johnson officiating. Following the service, light refreshments will be served in the church basement. Private inurnment will be held at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dorcas can be given to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693 or Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1022 Fairview Rd., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
