Dorothy K. Stahl, 98, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg formerly of Waynesboro and Somerset, passed away Saturday evening at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.
She was born in Allenport, Washington County, daughter of the late Rev. Clay J. and Iva Jeanette (Sherwood) Bland. On May 22, 1943 she married Rev. Glenn L. Stahl in Saltsburg, PA. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter Cheryl S. Felton (Silas) of Dayton, OH; a son, Barry G. Stahl (Martha) of Winston-Salem, NC; 5 grandchildren: Jessica Stahl of Chicago, IL, Dawn (Felton) Kawsky, Eric Felton and Jason Felton all of Dayton, OH and Jerry Felton of Bloomington, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Metta E. Bland, Phillis J. Glacken, Wilda M. Coale and Mildred Krakorsky.
Dorothy was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.
She was actively involved in many capacities throughout the parishes and communities while her husband served as pastor; including: Hooversville, PA; Taneytown, MD; Waynesboro, PA and Altoona, PA.
Dorothy enjoyed teaching, reading, music, oil and water painting, needlework and especially loved being with her family and host of friends with an open house always.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Chapel at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating.
Memorial remembrances may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 115 E. Penn St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
