Dorothy F. Gates, 80, a resident of Golden Living Centers-Hillview, Altoona formerly of Martinsburg, passed away early Wednesday morning at Hillview.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Ella Grace (McGregor) Fry. Dorothy was thrice married, including, Joseph Michelone and Edward Gates, who both preceded her in death.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Kathy Hileman (N. Alan) of Hopewell and Chris Greaser (Randy) of Woodstock, GA; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Kenneth Jr. of Munroe Falls, OH and Jack of Forth Worth, TX; 3 sisters: Anna Grace Gunnett of rural Roaring Spring, Ellen Stiffler of Clappertown, and Suzanne Brown of Camp Hill; and a step-brother, Charles of Williamsburg, VA.

She was a 1953 graduate of Williamsburg High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in English from the University of Connecticut.

Dorothy had recently attended Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg and also volunteered at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She loved reading, knitting and watching sports, especially football.

A private memorial service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg with Pastor Joel F. Nogle officiating. Inurnment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
