Dorothy J. Long

     Dorothy J. “Dottie” Long 81, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Homewood Living Martinsburg. She was born in Cumberland, MD a daughter of the late William Donald and Dorothy Ruth (Keith) Long. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Barbara Craig, Nancy Stouffer, and Donald Long.

     Dottie was a 1962 graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, MD and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in chemistry from University of Maryland. She then was involved with Teach for America and spent 2 years teaching chemistry in the intercity schools of Washington D.C. Dottie relocated to Williamsburg and was the Home Economics and Life Sciences teacher until her retirement. She was an active member of her community, and was fondly remembered for her greeting cards that were sent to many friends and family over the years.
