E. Ruth (Snyder) Over

E. Ruth Over, 92, of Woodbury, passed away on October 13, 2018 at her home. She was born on August 14, 1926 in New Enterprise, daughter of the late Ross G. and Edna (Massic) Snyder. In 1949, at a home in Woodbury, she married John H. Over who survives. Ruth was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren where she was the choir director for many years. She was employed at the Morrisons Cove Home as the Activities Director. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church and church functions, crocheting blankets, bowling, golfing, and was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Penn State Nittany Lions. She could always be found supporting her children and grandchildren at miscellaneous functions and sporting events. Ruth was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Byron Snyder, Marie Snyder, Anna Robinson, Dorothy Snyder, Miriam Rock, R. Dean Snyder, and Donna E. Snyder. Surviving are her husband John; son Edward Over (Glenda) of Bedford; daughter Vicki Baxter (Mike) of New Jersey; son Joseph Over (Robin) of Roaring Spring; grandchildren Kevin Baxter (Sandy), Jill Taylor (Erin), Brook Over, and Blake Over; as well as a sister-in-law Carol Snyder. Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 10:00-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, Wednesday, a Funeral Service will take place with Pastor David Ulm officiating. All of the above will be held at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery. If so desired, Memorial Contributions in Ruth’s name can be made to the Woodbury Church of the Brethren or the Woodbury Community Center.
