Earl J. “Jack” Showalter, 94, of Martinsburg, passed away, Thursday afternoon, March 25, 2021 at Homewood at Martinsburg.

He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Adam and Nellie J. (Ramey) Showalter.

Surviving is a special friend of 20 years, Lorraine Earon of Martinsburg; two daughters: Karen L. Bagnell (Charles) of Millville, DE, Lynn A. Brehler (Ken) of Traverse City, MI; a son Paul A. Showalter (Suzanne) of Troy, MI; 5 grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren.

Jack was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He was a multi-talented man with many jobs including: milkman, restaurateur, stock broker, politician, handyman,  and volunteer fireman/police officer.

Jack was past commander of Murray-Appleman American Legion Post No.147; a member of the D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43, a member of the Martinsburg Booster Association, and also attended Curryville Church of the Brethren.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing.

Friends will be received from 2 until 4pm, Monday, March 29, 2021, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service with military honors will follow at 4pm, Reverend Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating. Private interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be given to your favorite local charity.
