Edith Margaret Wineland

July 31, 1932 ~ March 3, 2025

Edith M. Wineland, 92, of Martinsburg, formerly of Kearney, Bedford County, went home to be with her Lord, Monday morning, March 3, 2025 at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born in Fulton County, daughter of the late Stanley E. and Myrtle (Foor) Wright.  Edith was twice married first to Joe Swindell and then to Foster F. Wineland, who both preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Kim G. Swindell (Sally) of Martinsburg; three grandchildren: Dr. Kim D. Swindell (Gracie), Kelli A. Swindell and Christopher F. Swindell (Jessica); eight great-grandchildren: Luke and Laurin Thomas, Colin Murtaugh, Isabella, Avery, Kyle, Caleb and Kendall Swindell; three brothers: Robert Wright (Jennie), Jerry Wright (Priscilla) and Joe Wright (Debbie); a sister, Maryann Meetze (Henry); two sisters-in-law, Shirley Wright and Debbie Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Stanley “Sonny”, Ronald and Thomas Wright; and three sisters: Jean Souders, Dorcas Cypher and Beatrice Taylor.

Edith was a 1950 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team and cheerleading squad.

She assisted her husband, Foster for many years with the daily operations of Foster F. Wineland Inc., in Martinsburg.  Edith was a member of the Claysburg Church of God, women of AGLOW in Saxton and served faithfully in women's prison ministry.  She was also a former member of the Blair County Business and Professional Women.

Edith enjoyed shopping and also loved to entertain and host family events and bible studies at her home.

Friends will be received from 10-11am, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 11am, her son, Pastor Kim Swindell will officiate.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
