Edward R. Lillibridge

Edward R. Lillibridge, 96, rural Spruce Creek, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening at Westminster Woods at Huntingdon.
He was born in Elk City, Kansas, son of the late Willard S. and Anna (Kahre) Lillibridge. He was united in marriage to Mary “Emma” Hileman on April 29, 1943 and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2016 after 73 years of loving marriage.
Surviving are 2 sons: Edward L. of Adamsville and M. Terry of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren: Mariann, Betsy, Jason and Matthew; and 4 great-grandchildren: Alysa, Jaselyn, Emma and Cal.
He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Stella Nitz, Emma Cassady, Rozella Goodwin and Georgina Lessman; and a brother, Austin.
Edward was reared in Kansas, but later joined the Army. While serving in the Army he was stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap, this is where he met Emma Hileman of Williamsburg, while she was working at Letterkenny Army Depot. After two weeks, they were married and celebrated their 73rd anniversary on April 29, 2016. Mr. Lillibridge and wife reared their sons on their farm near Spruce Creek.
Along with farming, Ed worked for Penelec, ran a cleaning shop in Williamsburg and was a member of the Painter’s Union and the former Tyrone Lodge #494 F&AM Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making wine from his own grapes, restoring cars, playing pool, and woodworking, for which he was known for his hickory rocking chairs.
Friends will be received from 10:30 am until noon, Monday, January 2, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg where a funeral will follow at noon, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating. Interment will be held at Yellow Springs Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Lillibridge be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 217 Plum St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
