Edward M. McChessney

Edward M. McChessney, 70, of Martinsburg, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center – Johnstown. He was born on September 16, 1956 in Roaring Spring; son of the late Walter Glenn McChessney, Sr. and Sarah R. (Richardson) Hamilton.

Edward served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1974-1995. He obtained the rank of Boatswain’s Mate. While in the Navy, Edward received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Battle Efficiency Award, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal to name a few. He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1974.

Edward was preceded in death by a brother, Darrel McChessney; niece, Christina; and nephews: Darrel Jr., Devin, and Walter III. Surviving are his siblings: Walter G. McChessney, Jr., Ida Campbell, David McChessney, Robert McChessney, Jeff McChessney (Connie), Cindy Illig, and Tina Hartman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 3:00PM – 5:00PM at the Fink & Stone Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Private Inurnment will be in Oreminea Cemetery.
