Eileen Elizabeth Nichols

Eileen Elizabeth Nichols, 81, a resident of Hilltop Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Friday evening, February 21, 2025 at the center.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Wilson M. and Alice M. (Yingling) Bookhammer.

On September 10, 1976 she married Bruce B. “Nick” Nichols.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Nick of 48 years; two sons: Harry E. Evans Jr. of Williamsburg and LeGrand J. Evans (Peggy) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Karina Evans, Randi Farringer, Erica Evans, Elizabeth Nichols and Jonah Nichols; numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers: George R., Ronald R., David B. and Donald R. Bookhammer; three sisters: Marjorie J. Novander, Darlene J. Simmons and Dorothy J. Dubois; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Alan Nichols; three brothers: Thomas L. Bookhammer, Rev. Bernard J. Bookhammer and Walter R. Aurandt; and a sister, Alma Jane Eastep.

Eileen was a 1961 graduate of Williamsburg High School.  She started her career in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later completed her Registered Nursing degree.  Eileen was employed for many years as a Registered Nurse and worked at various medical facilities during her career.

She attended the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.  Eileen was an active supporter of the Williamsburg Public Library and a member of the Williamsburg Lions Club and Order of the Eastern Star.

Eileen loved her job as a registered nurse and traveling with her husband, Nick.  She also enjoyed riding bicycles, reading and sewing.

Friends will be received from 11am until 12noon, Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a memorial service will begin at 12noon.
