Elsie G. Gunnett, 87, Williamsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday evening, May 23, 2018 at Maybrook Hills, Altoona.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late, Charles J. and Marguerite M. (Burris) Farringer.  On June 3, 1949 she married Edwin N. Gunnett in Winchester, VA.

Surviving are her beloved husband of nearly 69 years; a son, Edwin N. Jr. (wife, Nancy) of Williamsburg; a daughter, Rita E. Gorsuch of rural Williamsburg; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Gunnett of Oxford, Alabama; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Marshall Gunnett; a son-in-law, Dennis E. Gorsuch; three brothers: Charles W., Donald E. and Col. John R. Farringer; and three sisters: Elizabeth “Betty” and M. Evelyn Farringer and Minerva L. Thompson.

Elsie was a 1948 graduate of Williamsburg High School and also helped plan and coordinate the Williamsburg School District 100 year celebration.

Elsie was a member of Williamsburg Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and attended the Clappertown Christian & Missionary Alliance Church with her husband, Ed.

She retired as a nurse’s aide from Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg and was previously employed at the Blair County Children’s Home, Williamsburg.

Elsie loved spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzles.

At the request of the deceased there will be no services and a private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Clappertown Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 3239 Piney Creek Rd., Williamsburg, PA 16693 or your favorite local charity.
