Erwin Weaver Zimmerman, 84, of 12349 Huyett Ln, Hagerstown, Maryland (formerly from 400 Spring Farm Road, Martinsburg, Pennsylvania) went to his eternal reward in Heaven on Friday, September 4, 2026, at his residence at the Mennonite Fellowship Home.
Born on November 12, 1941, at Terre Hill, Pennsylvania, son of the late Aaron S. and Mary (Weaver) Zimmerman. He was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 49 years, Lydia H. (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, who passed away on February 16, 2013.
Surviving are ten children: Roseann married to Elam Zimmerman of Martinsburg; Vernon married to Anna Ruth (Zimmerman) of Martinsburg; Lorraine married to Jerry Martin of Martinsburg; Marcus married to Lorraine (Stauffer) of Martinsburg; Clyde married to Anna Mae (Stauffer) of Altoona; Annetta married to Elvin Zeiset of Fortuna, MO; Berneice married to Clifford Leid of New Enterprise; Brenda married to Paul Ivan Nolt of Martinsburg; Kevin married to Mabel (Rissler) of Martinsburg and Kenneth married to Grace (Newswanger) of Martinsburg.
Also surviving are 62 grandchildren and 97 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Ivan (Ella) Zimmerman, Edna Zimmerman, Aaron Jr. (Esther), Mary Ella (Allen Nolt), John (Emma), Melvin (Lucy), Verna (Ivan Zimmerman), Ada (Henry Martin), Harvey (Irene), Esther (Daniel Martin).
Erwin was a lifelong dairy farmer who moved his young family to Morrison’s Cove in 1970. After retiring from the farm, he worked in lumber timbering and woodworking.
The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Benjamin and Phyllis Eby and the team at the Mennonite Fellowship Home for their love, care, and compassion provided for our father during the past nearly five years. Our lives are enriched by having walked together during this journey.
Viewings will be held at the Mennonite Fellowship Home, 12349 Huyett Ln, Hagerstown, MD on Tuesday September 8th at 9:30am and at the Woodbury Community Center, 4100 Woodbury Pike, Woodbury, PA on Tuesday September 8th from 2 to 4pm and 5 to 7pm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 9th at 9:30am at the Old Order Martinsburg Mennonite Church, Cove Lane Road, Martinsburg, PA with officiating Bishop Irvin H. Zimmerman. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
