Floyd M. Reighard, 88, formerly of Canoe Creek, passed away Friday morning at Golden Living Center-Hillview, Altoona. He was born in Martinsburg, son of the late David and Cora (Steele) Reighard. He married Ruth V. Kinser on September 20, 1947 in Bedford.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years; 3 daughters: Donna Kirke (Michael) of Hollidaysburg, Judy Phillips of Bedford, and Patti Milks (Jim) of New Enterprise; a son, David Reighard (Chris) of Altoona; 7 grandchildren: Ron Smith of Pleasanton, CA, Terri Lear of Williamsburg, Douglas Otto of Altoona, Dr. Timothy Phillips of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Reighard of Blue Knob, Stephen Reighard of Hollidaysburg, and Michael Miller of New Enterprise; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 sons: Roger and Ricky Reighard; a son-in-law, David Drass; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Reighard; and 2 brothers: Homer and George.

Floyd was a 1945 graduate of Martinsburg High School and served in the Merchant Marines towards the end of WW II, where he traveled all around the world.

He was a member of the Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church and was also an ordained minister for the Church of the Brethren.

Floyd was a master carpenter who worked for Albert Kauffman Builders, Roaring Spring and J.C. Orr, Altoona. Floyd, midlife moved to the Philadelphia area to manage the Maintenance Department at Harston Hall Nursing Home and later managed the Toms River, NJ retirement facility. While in the Philadelphia area he also built customized libraries for many law firms. He then moved to North Palm Beach, FL where he spent time before returning to the Canoe Creek area, where he kept busy doing customized woodworking at Dave’s Dream, Hollidaysburg. Floyd’s hobby was making beautiful wood pieces and furniture for his children.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Golden Living Center-Hillview, 700 S. Cayuga Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 or Asera Care Hospice, 1015 Logan Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
